And then the song just took on a life of its own. I was on the road. The song was doing well, and I was just riding that. And I was in that excitement of that feeling of working really hard and then being rewarded for it and being known.
So, I was just in the middle of that whole blur, that whole whirlwind, when they approached me. It was a brand new show, so I had nothing to go off of. So it was kind of a risk, because it was a newish thing. I hung out with Heidi and Spencer the other day. It was fun. And we hung out all day. You might not notice, but they really are.
The good is that everybody knows you before you walk into the room — they know your song even more than they know you. The song became its own thing.
Some people are careful about what they put their songs in. That sounds great. Since the start of the pandemic last year, Bedingfield has been back in the studio working on new music. You want to try and find a way of saying something that we all need to hear without saying it in a way that's been said before.

In the studio one afternoon, Bedingfield mentioned that she had written something for her younger brother. What do I wish that I'd heard? But it was met with little enthusiasm. They wanted to write more sexy songs," she explained. The next day, Bedingfield had a session with producer Wayne Rodrigues and songwriter Danielle Brisebois, whom she'd never met.
I don't have any high expectations usually," Brisebois told Insider. I immediately felt, 'Oh my God, I just met somebody really important in my life. They got to work on a few different songs, but none quite met their expectations.
Then, Brisebois heard Bedingfield say the word "unwritten" and something clicked into place. We go back and forth and it's like we can't get it out fast enough. It's the kind of accessible, tactile imagery that brilliant pop music is built on. But that line doesn't just feel good to scream-sing in a crowd of people.
